John Farnum Returns to SJCCSC with Urban Rifle Class
John Farnum of Defense Training International (DTI), will return to our Club on the dates listed above, to conduct his Urban Rifle training class. John is internationally recognized for his firearm training classes, has authored several books on shooting topics, and is often seen on television shooting shows. John has been to our Club in past years offering this same class, as well as basic and advanced pistol and rifle classes.
Urban Rifle is an intense, two day course, covering the proper proper operation and use of military style rifles for defense. for more details, go to DTI website www.defense-training.com
Please review the firearm requirements, cost and what is needed while deciding if this the next step for you in your firearm training. It is impressive to look at the schedule of classes that John has scheduled, and know that little ‘ol Sturgis is on that list!
If interested in attending the class, please email or call Jeff Brazo at
More details are below
Send a Course deposit ($300.00) directly to me. When I receive it, I'll e-mail them course information and confirmation.
Deposits are non-refundable. When a student must cancel, his deposit becomes a cancellation fee. However, half of it may be applied to future Courses.
If we have an overflow response, we'll schedule a second Course.
But, we need to get an early start!
Here is the general blurb:
Handguns will be carried by all students during all the instruction, so we can practice longarm-handgun transition.
You’ll need fifty rounds of handgun ammunition.
In addition to a pistol, you will need a medium or heavy, autoloading or bolt-action, military rifle in 7.62x51, 7.62x39, 5.45x39, 30-06, 6.8SPC, M1 Carbine, or 5.56x45 caliber (223). Pistol-cartridge-firing carbines, such as the Beretta CX4 and H&K MP-5, are also acceptable. We will accept military look-alike rimfire rifles. Lever actions, and other, low-capacity, sporting rifles are not recommended. Slings are mandatory, as we will be running a hot range.
High-magnification, high profile, close-eye-relief scopes are not suitable for our purposes. Good, iron sights are recommended. Low-power, low-profile, forward-mounted optics are acceptable and are also recommended. The best rifle to bring is a military autoloader. Students should be advised that their rifles will see some strenuous, rugged use and may get scratched up a bit. Pretty guns are best left at home. You will need five-hundred rounds of rifle ammunition.
The course will be outdoors and will entail some physical activity, so you will need to dress appropriately (long pants, long-sleeve shirt, sturdy shoes). You may get dirty, so wear something heavy-duty but inexpensive. Don't show up in sweat pants or shorts. Bring along an old sports coat or jacket, so that you will able to draw handguns from concealment. An exception is made for police officers who want to work out of their uniform, duty gear.
All students must bring their own safety equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and a baseball cap.
Finally, you will need a gun case or box, so that you can safely carry your rifle and shotgun and rifle on and off the range. Your handguns may be carried onto and off the range in a holster (concealed, unless you're in uniform) or in a gun rug or box. All longarms must be carried on and off the range in cases.
